Weathering and corrosion tests are usually performed according to requirements set out in a standard test method or practice. Nevertheless, many users are unfamiliar with how these standards are created and revised. The development of a test standard can follow many different paths, depending on factors such as the original purpose of the standard, the group or OEM developing the standard, and the balance of practicality and realistic simulation in test conditions.

This webinar will cover some of the basics behind weathering and corrosion test development, examples of the process in the development of common standards, and how users can become involved in the development of international test standards.

Q-Lab’s experts will discuss standards and procedures from major international standards organizations including ISO and ASTM, which generate many of the world's leading weathering and corrosion test protocols. An understanding of how these organizations create, publish, and revise standards can help users understand how best to interpret and implement them in their own laboratories. This insight is relevant for anyone involved in materials durability testing, including auditors, lab managers, technicians, and quality control professionals.
